When I was a young girl I used to love going over to my grandparents’ house.  Everything was fun and I was treated so special as the only granddaughter.

I was always in awe as to how much my grandmother knew – to me she was the most connected and informed woman on the planet.  She had an answer for everything and it was really amazing how she knew, and frequently referred to “Them”.  They were doing this to give us a better life, or They were going about something in a way my grandmother didn’t approve of, or They were saying this or that.  Do you have similar memories of people in your life with those connections?

I always used to keep quiet about Them and the fact that my grandmother knew who They were – I did not want to give away her secrets about how she and They knew so much.  I think They were born out of the Kennedy era and the Cuban Missile Crisis…and They are kind of like Bigfoot – you know They are out there, you just have never actually run into one.

Years went by and I did not give it much thought, until I discovered my husband’s grandmother knew Them too!  We get a good chuckle these days and share a quick glance whenever we hear that They (our children know some of Them nowadays too) are out there and on the prowl still.

The amazing part is that They will show up when you are starting to look at selling and/or buying a new home or investment real estate.  All of a sudden, They know the price you should go to market at, or They know what you should be paying for what type of home in any given area.  Beware of the They-lians in this capacity, and listen carefully to the talk that abounds when word gets out you may be buying or selling.

If the They-lians had a real estate brokerage firm, I am almost certain there would be no other real estate professionals in business – They just know more than the rest of us.

All jesting aside for a moment, do consult your real estate professional - a Realtor – when you begin the consideration process of buying or selling a new home or investment property.

Until then, beware of the They-lians!
