Families are descending on Bozeman this week for MSU graduation. Book restaurants early, arrive early to find parking, and explore beyond campus. Bozeman punches well above its weight for a city this size.

Carlisle Bozeman | 25 E Mendenhall St | The go-to for a celebratory graduation dinner. Montana elk loin, wagyu beef, and a stunning wine cellar. Reserve well in advance this week. 

Blackbird Kitchen | 140 E Main St | Bozeman's beloved Italian spot on Main Street. Wood-fired pizza, fresh pasta, and excellent wine. Sit at the kitchen bar for the best experience. 

Brigade | 233 E Main St | Chic rooftop perch above Main Ave with craft cocktails, fresh oysters, and one of the best happy hours in town. Great views, great vibes. 

Revelry | 24 N Tracy Ave | Buzzy spot serving everything from pizza to bison bolognese. The huckleberry lemonade is a must. Works for families, groups, or a casual lunch. 

Bitterroot Bistro | 19 S Willson Ave | Intimate downtown gem with reviewers raving about the trout as "the best fish meal of their lives." Small and personal — get a reservation. 

Nissa by Food for Thought | 22 S Grand Ave | A new French-inspired gem run by Bozeman transplants from France. Calming atmosphere, incredible soups, and local ingredients. A refreshing change of pace.

Sky Shed | 24 W Mendenhall St | Bozeman's best rooftop bar with panoramic Bridger Mountain views. Perfect for a sunset cocktail after the ceremony. Go early — it fills fast this week. 

Bridger Brewing | 1609 S 11th Ave | A Bozeman institution. Craft beer and wood-fired pizza in a laid-back setting. Close to campus, family-friendly, and a great spot to decompress after graduation. 

Hop Lounge | 93 Rowland Rd 50 | Montana craft beers on tap inside a renovated barn. Rotisserie chicken, huge outdoor patio, and BMX on big screen TVs. A uniquely Bozeman experience.

Bozeman Taproom & Spirits | 101 N Rouse Ave | Rooftop seating, live music on weekends, and a massive tap selection. Great for larger family groups with varied tastes. Lively graduation-week atmosphere. 

Things to See & Do

Museum of the Rockies | 600 W Kagy Blvd (On MSU Campus) World-class dinosaur collection literally steps from campus. The T-Rex exhibits are stunning. A must-do for families with kids, but fascinating for everyone. Open 9–5 daily. 

Downtown Main Street | E Main St Bozeman's charming downtown is packed with independent shops, galleries, and restaurants. Walk from Rouse Ave to Grand Ave and pop into whatever catches your eye. Free and fun.

Bozeman Hot Springs | 81123 Gallatin Rd (15 min west) Soak away the travel exhaustion. Outdoor and indoor pools at varying temperatures, dry sauna, cold plunge, and a café. A beloved local ritual — check hours before going. 

Montana Grizzly Encounter | 80 W Bozeman Hill Rd (20 min from downtown) Watch rescued grizzly bears up close at this sanctuary. Max weighs 1,300 lbs and is the largest grizzly in Montana. A genuinely unique Montana experience. Open Wed–Sun. 

Hyalite Canyon | 12 miles south of Bozeman A stunning canyon with hiking trails, Hyalite Reservoir, and wildflower meadows just minutes from campus. Perfect for a morning hike before the big ceremony.

Lewis & Clark Caverns | Whitehall, MT (1 hr west) Montana's most spectacular cave system. Guided tours through dramatic stalagmites and stalactites. A great half-day trip if you're staying a few days. 

Graduation Week Tips

Parking: Downtown fills fast. Park on N Bozeman Ave or the Rouse Ave garage and walk. 

Reservations: Book restaurants now. Carlisle, Blackbird, and Bitterroot especially fill up weeks in advance during graduation week.

Weather: May in Bozeman means warm afternoons but cool evenings. Bring a layer — it can drop to the 40s after sunset.

Getting Around: Bozeman is very drivable. Gallatin Valley is spread out — rent a car or use rideshare for spots outside downtown.
