This month, PollyAnna Snyder, partner and Broker with Engel & Volkers in Bozeman was recognized in the top 10 producing advisors for Engel & Volkers North America. This award is based on the number of transactions (for both buyers and sellers) an advisor in North America closes in a calendar year. To be awarded this recognition from a smaller market like Bozeman is an exceptional accomplishment! Competing with major urban markets such as Houston, Los Angeles, New York and other metro areas where E&V has shops and some outstanding advisors, there is incredible competition.

PollyAnna typically does not like her name in lights (especially as big as the one in the picture) and after processing the award, we took a few moments to get PollyAnna's viewpoint on what it takes to earn such a prestigious status her first year with a new brokerage. I really wanted to get to the bottom of “how” one accomplishes this in a competitive industry and environment – here’s what she had to say:
“This is a business with time spent every day on your relationships. Like many businesses, it is not necessarily a special or specific set of skills that cause success – it is more of a blended set of skills, characteristics, support systems and people, and motivation that leads to success. It is answering the question of “how we can effectively serve others and spend our time seeing their needs and goals are met?”. Think for a moment…if we, as real estate professionals, can answer and accomplish this, our own success is just a by-product. In the end, I think there are three overarching reasons all successful brokers and agents realize true success.

1) Experience and Mentoring – While we all learn quite a bit from our classroom time and continuing education when we first become real estate agents, I truly believe there is no substitute for a great mentor….someone to teach you the proper methods and steps to take in the business and the experience that comes with each new and successful transaction.

2) Support People and Systems – I am fortunate to be surrounded by great people and systems in my life. My business partner says that if we need to do something more than once, it needs a system. There is simply no way today’s agent or Broker has enough time in any given day to accomplish all that needs to be done in order to run an effective and smart real estate brokerage. I am blessed with great marketing people, great quality control systems, a fantastic administrator and transaction coordinator, my assistant and others from direct contractors to affiliate partners. From the E&V corporate systems and support, down to our local experts, it is a full team effort to get every transaction from conception to close. This is what it means to serve our clients.

3) A Deep-Seeded “Why” – Everyone needs motivation…and some days more than others. For me, it is my family, a focused desire to see my clients are happy, and the desire to see our industry grow and flourish in a professional manner. In a nutshell, I want to be a good example to others and at the same time serve my family and clients. It is nice to see younger and newer agents really “get it” – the way the professionalism and success was offered to me back in 2000. In the end, if someone has the “why” and motivation, this business can be a true joy – you just have to lean in on that “why” when you find yourself in your office at 10:00 p.m. on a Wednesday night, in the middle of the summer. Your “why” is your default and driver when days do not look so rosy and easy….and there are plenty of those!

I want to take a moment to thank Mary, Courtney, Callan, Kara, and all the others who should be recognized as well who share in the success an award like this comes with. Thank you as well to everyone who has supported us, been a client, those who refer their friends and associates to us, and who place their faith, confidence, and trust in us – you are the ones who make this work for all of us.”

Let’s see what PollyAnna and her new team do in 2018! Always feel free to reach out to our Bozeman shop if we can help you in any way realize your real estate dreams and goals.  Happy Spring!
