Hebgen Lake Zoning requires land use permits when you build and the minimum size for a home is 1,000 sq feet with a maximum building height of 32 feet. This is a great little development of permanent and seasonal homes, not on the lake but with easy access to the lake. Rent a boat slip in the marina across the road or use their daily launch facilities. There is also lake shore access on National Forest land to the west which is a public day use area to play on the beach or launch your boat there. All this, and you are only 12 miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone Park and the lively little town of West Yellowstone. Highway 287 runs along the north side of Hebgen Lake and is the direct route to the Madison River, a blue ribbon trout stream. Hunting and hiking is right out your back door, with miles and miles of National Forest to the north. Because of the area zoning use of a home as a vacation rental is strictly prohibited.
